Which brainrot pays back its cost fastest?
Formula follows the wiki's worked examples. Not verified in game.
A mutation shortens every time but does not change the order.
Top 20 by payback time
Payback = cost ÷ income per second, base income with no mutation or trait. Columns on the right show the same brainrot with Eclipse (14x) and with Eclipse plus Strawberry + Meowl (29x).

The number in brackets is how many obtainable brainrots the rarity has. Ties on payback are ordered by higher income, then name. Rounded to the displayed unit.
What a mutation does to the ranking
Nothing, in this model. The site follows the wiki's worked examples: income = base × (mutation + sum of traits). The multiplier is the same for every brainrot, so cost ÷ income shrinks by the same factor for all of them. Eclipse turns Noobini Pizzanini's 25 s into 1.8 s and the fastest Secret's 1.7 min into 7.1 s. We checked that the top-to-bottom order of all 258 is identical at 14x and 29x. This counts the base price you paid, not a mutated price.
The one thing that can reorder them is a trait that works differently, such as Sleepy, which halves the finished income (0.5x) and doubles every time. It still hits every brainrot equally.
Questions
Does a mutation change which brainrot pays back fastest?
No. In this model a mutation multiplies every brainrot's income by the same amount, so the order stays the same and only the time shrinks. With Eclipse (14x) every payback time is 14 times shorter.
Why is the fastest payback not the best buy?
Payback is cost divided by income, so it ignores how much you earn in total. Noobini Pizzanini pays back in 25 s but earns $1/s, while the fastest Secret needs 1.7 min and earns $30M/s. See the budget guide for the highest income you can afford.
Which brainrots are counted?
Only the 258 the wiki lists as obtainable with a known cost and income. Unobtainable, removed and TBA brainrots are left out. The slowest of the 258 is Meowl at 18.1 min.
